How to Make Homeschooling Fun

“Genes Change Slowly, Your Brain Changes Quickly”

The following article focuses on making homeschooling fun, but please know that this is just a single element in understanding how your child most effectively learns. It is an element of what we call “the Learning Code.”  The Learning Code is comprised of a network of specific neurological connections in our brains that when triggered, activate up to 6,000 genes to respond to the current world of accelerated change. This code has been etched into our genetic makeup through a 3.5-billion-year evolutionary process of selection. It provides us with the ability to adapt, survive and thrive in today’s environment.  The Learning Code Institute has identified the process to efficiently activate this code. And yes, fun is part of this code.

Your kids will learn much more effectively if they’re in a comfortable environment. Experiencing joy and fun can produce remarkable results.

Set up a learning space for them, and make sure it’s somewhere that feels safe and conducive to learning. This could be their room or a corner of the living room—just make sure they have enough space to spread out their materials without feeling confined or overwhelmed. You may also want to give them some quiet time by themselves each day or allow them to take breaks at certain points during the day.

Make sure they’re not distracted by other things in the room. If you have multiple kids, try to designate one area where they can go at once so that everyone is learning without interruption.

The kitchen is an awesome place to learn. If you are looking for ways to make your homeschooling more fun and engaging, then we highly suggest you start with the kitchen. There are many different things that can be learned in this room: math, science, history, music… You name it!

The kitchen is a great place to learn math. It can be an especially fun subject because it involves using numbers and counting. For example you can teach them how many tablespoons of sugar or flour they need in order to make something sweet like cookies or cake.

The kitchen is also a great place to learn science. You can teach them about the different chemicals in food and how they interact with each other to create tasty dishes..

Incorporate your kids’ interests and passions into lessons.

  • Talk to your kids and find out what they are interested in.
  • Use that interest to inspire a lesson, or at least activity.
  • For example, if your child has a passion for dinosaurs, you can have them make their own dinosaur (or several) and then study its characteristics together.

Don’t treat it like school!

The most important thing to remember as you begin homeschooling your child is not to treat it like school. If your child has been through a traditional classroom setting, she may have come to expect or resent certain things from school.

So what does this mean? It means that instead of following a rigid schedule where every hour has been planned out in advance (with specific goals for each session), try leaving some room for spontaneity: plan out one or two topics per week if possible but give yourself freedom from there on out! If something else interests your son during his lessons today (or tomorrow), let him explore it; he may stumble upon something he didn’t know existed before being introduced through curiosity rather than curriculum planning alone!

It’s easy to accept the idea that neuroscience has changed the way we understand and treat mental health conditions. We’ve all seen changes in how doctors talk about depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses, but did you know that it’s also changing what we know about learning and how we go about creating it?

Homeschooling can be fun for your kid if you know how to make it fun.

You can make homeschooling fun for your child, but you have to be creative and think outside the box.  It’s important to consider how everyone in the family will benefit from this new change, including yourself!

You might need some help at first, but with time and practice, you will find yourself enjoying it more than ever before.

* Make it fun for the child–this is essential!

* Make it fun for the parent–if you’re not having a good time then neither will your children. The best way to do this is by making sure everyone knows what is going on and has input into decisions about how their day goes.

So these are a few ideas regarding having fun, but this is the tip of the iceburg. There is an entire new world regarding the science of effective learning waiting you.
